U.S. Open postcard: Serena Williams wins singles match to start long day

Serena played a great second round match against her American opponent Vania King and won 6-1, 6-0 in 56 minutes. After match it was time for  a cool down and stretching before she and her sister Venus Williams start their first round doubles match not before 4 p.m.

When you play a doubles match after a singles match, it can not only make for a long day, but also less recovery time until your next singles match.

What playing doubles can do is to sharpen your reaction time and net play, which is why Serena likes it.

We will not know our schedule for Friday until 6 p.m., which is typical of how pro tennis can assign opponents much less the time of the march which is based on tv schedules.

Needless to say the management of fatigue, rest and recovery, and your nutrition plan are all keys to have the best chance to win on a daily basis. Focus, intent, and purpose are the other keys to winning consistently.
