New York — Serena won what was supposed to have been a tough match (against Sloane Stephens). But she won 6-4, 6-1. Serena won with great ground strokes and a powerful serve. She broke Sloane in the second set, and Sloane wasn’t the same player in the second set as she was in the first.

What was interesting before the match in warmups, we took the court that Victoria Azarenka was using, and we were next to the court where Rafael Nadal was practicing. Just on the other side was Sloane. Everyone was within 50 yards of each other. Azarenka stopped and watched some of Serena’s warmup.

Beginning this week, if you go to, there is a digital show, and it’s behind the scenes of what’s going on. Each day you get to meet people on her team, and you meet me Thursday. They have interviews with me, and you get to see behind the scenes.

Monday, Serena has a doubles match with Venus. After Sunday’s match, we worked on the bike, and Serena went through her stretching routine. She did shoulder work. I’m ready to start it all over again tomorrow.
