(Charles Krupa, AP PHOTO )[/caption]New York — As of this writing I’m sitting in the fitness center and its almost empty. Serena just completed a 6-0 6-0 total domination of Carla Suarez Navarro in the quarterfinals.

Our day began, at least with me, at 11 a.m. this morning. We had a light workout since we had a late match, that’s pretty common, with emphasis on hip rotation, opening the shoulder and legs. Just to kind of wake up the body. We had a good warmup session from 4:45 p.m. -5:15 p.m. and I brought her her pregame meal.

Tonight was a flawless game, everything was turned on and going. I hope it stays like this all the way through. (Wednesday)’s match is not before 2:30 p.m., New Orleans time, a doubles match with her sister Venus.

We continue to march on, down the line to the next phase. Of course the second week is the toughest week. The place vacates, the air gets thinner. The key is recovery. At this point you play every day. Doubles is not the same game as singles, but it has its challenges.
