Postcards from Wimbledon | Serena Williams’ opponent used great returns to her advantage

Well, I guess you can say all good things must come to an end, at least here at Wimbledon. Serena Williams lost in three sets to Alize Cornet, who, I must say, used great returns from Serena’s serve to her advantage.

I think the take home message is no matter how effectively you prepare, you must be able to adapt to the opponent’s strengths, to the effects of the weather—we had a four hour rain delay—and to overcome adversity.

Serena is a great champion, probably the best of 3,000 professional athletes that I have had the honor to work with.

If I never work with another pro, to be able to say that say that I finished my life’s work with Serena Williams—who may go down in history as the best female tennis player in women’s professional tennis history—I will feel that I fulfilled a dream come true.

May be time for me to take my dreams and memories and call it a day.
