Cardio Fit: Quick Feet to Fitness with the Ladder Drill

It's been said in sports and recreational activities that it comes down to footwork and fitness that separate winners from competitors. I've often commented to my athletes and, in interviews, that your feet can get you into trouble during the game. They are also the solution to getting out of trouble–with proper training.

Ladder Drills:

Using a ladder device—a series of tethered squares—lay it down in a straight line. Emphasizing a quick arm and foot movement, advance from one end to the other under control—without touching the lines of each square. Perform the same maneuver with single leg hops—followed by lateral double foot hops. Repeat with the opposite foot and to the opposite side for double lateral hops.
